Our Sustainability Technologies
As Cihan Grup, we pursue an R&D vision that focuses not only on final product quality,
but also on the environmental impact of our production processes.
We actively implement the Circular Economy model—one of the cornerstones of sustainability
in the construction industry—across our facilities.
In this context, we utilize advanced CRS Concrete Recycling Systems, enabling us to treat production residues and transit mixer returns not as “waste,” but as “secondary raw materials.”
How Does the Technological Process Work?
The system installed at our facilities subjects unhardened (not yet set) waste fresh concrete to a specialized washing and separation process:
• Aggregate Recovery: Through helical separation mechanisms within the system, the sand and gravel (aggregate) contained in fresh concrete are completely washed and separated from cement slurry. The recovered clean aggregate is then transferred to storage areas for reuse in production.
• Grey Water (Cementitious Water) Generation: The water used during the separation process absorbs fine materials and active cement particles from the concrete, transforming into “Grey Water.” This water is rested in dedicated system tanks and, depending on its density, is reused as mixing water in new concrete batches.
R&D Objectives and Achieved Benefits
The use of this technology directly supports Cihan Grup’s “Zero Waste” and “Resource Efficiency” objectives:
• Conservation of Natural Resources: We reduce the consumption of virgin aggregate and fresh water.
• Environmental Compliance: By preventing the disposal of waste concrete into the environment, we minimize environmental pollution.
• Economic Circularity: By converting our own waste into raw materials, we optimize production costs and demonstrate a sustainable production model.
